Can Ketamine Therapy Help Me?

ketamine-therapy

From mental health issues such as treatment-resistant depression to chronic pain conditions including complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), ketamine has brought hope back into many patients lives. With not many therapies available for these patients, newer options such as ketamine has proven to be effective. Here at Precision Compounding Pharmacy and Wellness we offer ketamine in a variety of formulations to best serve the patient and their prescriber’s needs and to improve their treatment and healing process.

Mechanism: Ketamine is a NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate) receptor antagonist. This mechanism accounts for most of ketamine’s effects, including anesthetic, analgesic, antidepressant and psychomimetic.

Ketamine Formulations:

Rapidly Dissolving Tablets (RDT)

  • A quick dissolving powder tablet that is typically dissolved sublingually (under the tongue).
  • This is the most common form of oral ketamine available.

Troches

  • A gelatin-like lozenge usually absorbed buccally (in the inner cheek) or sublingually (under the tongue).
  • Can be flavored to your preference!

Nasal Spray

  • A fine mist spray inhaled through the intra-nasal route providing a quick and effective way of delivering ketamine.

Cream

  • Topical ketamine is often combined with other pain relief ingredients (anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxants, neuropathic pain agents, numbing agents, etc.) to provide the most effective pain relief in a localized area.

Suppositories

  • When patients have a hard time absorbing oral ketamine, rectal suppositories are an alternative method to deliver ketamine in these specific cases.
